Why Am I in College?

When I first entered college, I believed that higher education was simply the next step after school — something expected by family, teachers, and society. Like many students, I viewed college mainly as a pathway toward a stable career and financial security. However, as I became immersed in the college environment, I realized that being here means far more than earning a diploma. College has become a deeply personal journey that continuously shapes my identity, values, ambitions, and understanding of the world around me.

Growing up, I often heard that education creates opportunities. My parents viewed college as a symbol of stability and independence, especially in a rapidly changing world where competition in the job market continues to increase. In many ways, their perspective influenced my decision to pursue higher education. Yet, after spending time in college, I discovered that my motivation extends beyond economic success.
